#VClife Blog

As the air turns cold and the leaves golden the excitement for the
holiday season is at an all-time high.  With the dawn of Thanksgiving
upon us, it’s easy to lose sight of what we are truly thankful for
this holiday season.  Many of us, myself included, are guilty of
taking our many blessings for granted…believing we are humble with
what we have then spending copious amounts of money on material
objects that never fail to captivate only our momentary attention.
For many of us we will be leaving our warm apartments here in VC to
venture home to spend time with family and friends with the feast of
the year waiting for us in a home full of love.  What I challenge
everyone reading this is to do something different this holiday
season.  I fully believe that actions are much more powerful than
words and I propose to you is to be thankful and give back to the
community that has provided you with so many gifts and blessings
instead of just saying how thankful you are. Go donate household items
that your family ceases to use, help a family that can’t afford to
have a Thanksgiving meal by providing food, volunteer at a homeless
shelter, just anything that shows how thankful you are to the
community that raised you, instead of saying it in anticipation of
buying meaningless things the very next day.  I hope everyone has a
wonderful Thanksgiving break and I hope to see your smiling faces once
classes resume!
