Friday the 13th Some people associate this paring as a day of bad luck. Others regard it as “just another day”. For me, I see it as a mini-Halloween. The streets may not be filled with children and candy, but there is still an eerie feeling that sets in once the sun leaves. Why this day in particular has a reputation for being creepy is beyond me but regardless, it’s a day that everyone can recognize and many one that many people look forward to. One of the reasons many people look forward to this specific Friday is because it…

As the air turns cold and the leaves golden the excitement for the holiday season is at an all-time high.  With the dawn of Thanksgiving upon us, it’s easy to lose sight of what we are truly thankful for this holiday season.  Many of us, myself included, are guilty of taking our many blessings for granted…believing we are humble with what we have then spending copious amounts of money on material objects that never fail to captivate only our momentary attention. For many of us we will be leaving our warm apartments here in VC to venture home to spend…

My name is Mike and I’ve wanted a Chevy Avalanche since I was in 4th grade. A couple weeks ago it happened. I drove to Charlotte with my beautiful girlfriend (Who I met at Valentine Commons) and bought a black 2004 Avalanche. I love it.  It’s raised higher than a normal Avalanche but it’s tasteful, not at all obnoxious. The tint on the windows is pretty extreme. It might be illegal but I guess I’ll find out eventually. The guy I bought it from just advised me to roll down all of the windows if I get pulled over so…

NC State Female Engineers Being a female engineer has its challenges and setbacks…. don’t get me wrong, it is a lot more common now than it used to be, but we are still a minority. Coming to NC State and starting my major (Mechanical Engineering), I learned that 94% of Mechanical Engineers are male and only 6% is comprised of females. As much as I enjoy hanging out with guys, as I’ve always had more guy friends than girls, I still found myself needing some strong ladies in my life that understood the hardship of also being a female engineer….

NC State Football NC State Football has been very inconsistent in recent years, with more ups and downs than a roller coaster, and many disappointed fans.  As a college student at a D1 program, college football is of major importance and is practically an institution.  NCSU football has been a bit of a running joke among students here, and at the start of this year was no different. The team took a trip down to Florida to play FSU, a perennial football powerhouse.  The Wolfpack won 27-21, and this started a chain of events which were unprecedented in my time…

Is Freshman Year Too Early to Live Off Campus? No!  Welcome to the #VCLife blog! My name is Luke Tart, I am one of the Marketing Assistants you may see at the front desk, and I’m a Junior in Environmental Technology and Management.  This year will be my third year living at VC and I have loved every year!  Coming in as a freshman we did not have the mandate saying we had to live on campus. Even still, many freshmen had to find off-campus living this year after all the dorms filled up.  So, if you find you find…
